The title race for some of the district divisions is getting heated up as the Outer Banks ESA season is over halfway completed. Several divisions have had some dominant performers that have taken a substantial points lead in some of the larger contested divisions. Quentin Turko in Menehune, Christian VanVliet in Boys, Jason Breiholz in Sr. Men's, and MT Leavel in Jr. Longboard have each won 3 of the first 4 contests in their respectful division. With only 3 more contests left in the season, these surfers have a comfortable lead in points for winning a seasonal district title.
In closer points races, Josh Beveridge and Sterling King are tied with 3710 points each in the highly competitive Jr. Men's division. Prescott Metcalf has a slim 100 point lead over John Ritter in the Master's division. Jay Hawekotte has a narrow 71 point lead over Ray Gray in the Legend's Longboard division. In Open Bodyboard, Charles Shelton has a narrow 209 point lead over Brian Breiholz. And in the largest and most competitive divsions, Pat Mcmanus has a small 217.5 point lead over Outer Banks grom phenom Julian Payne.
There are many other divisions that have some great point races going on at this point in the season. With each surfer competing for qualification into next year's Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, every district contest proves to be important this time in the season. With 3 contests remaining, there is still opportunity for some big changes in points leaders and some big upsets in each division.
